                                                        OUR VISION

Our vision is to use Karate and the Martial Arts as a tool to reach out to children. It is our desire for children of all ages to come to know their Lord and Savior as Jesus Christ. We understand that most Christians come to accept Jesus between the ages of 4 through 14 and then after that less than 5% have the probability to do so. With many kids having the desire to learn Karate we know this can be a powerful and unique way of reaching out to them and teaching them the Gospel in addition to helping them build a true powerful relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord. We envision as children come to class they will begin to invite their friends. As that happens the children will reach out to other children their age and invite them into the Kingdom of God. As their friends come to class they will also come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They will gain new friends in class and in the Kingdom. From there it is our hope that they will also want to join other church activities and Sunday School where their new-found friends will also be going. As this happens children that were once un-churched will now become slowly involved in the church and in the Kingdom of God. Our hope and desire is to see the Kingdom breakthrough in the hearts of children throughout the entire city of Clarksville!

                                              OUR MISSION

It is our desire at the United Christian Kenpo Academy to teach the true way of the warrior, “Bushido.” Bushido is the “Code of Conduct” that every samurai or martial artist lives by. Our slogan at the Academy is, “The True Way of the Warrior is through Jesus Christ.” This can be found in the Bible: John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’” (KJV)

In Japan the word samurai means “servant” or “to serve.” The highest level of bushido is to die for the one you serve. Jesus came to earth and demonstrated His service to us by washing our feet. He then climbed up on that cross and died for us. That is why the “True Way of the Warrior is through Jesus Christ.” In Japan while the samurai were servants they were also known as “Warriors.” At the Academy the children will also be known as Warriors. Even their workbooks are titled “Warriors.” There are many other codes the samurai lived by but are too intensive to list here. As our children learn these codes they will come to realize what they are learning are the true values that are taught in the Bible.

At the Academy the children will be learning an art called, “Kami Bushi Kempo.” This is a hybrid system that is from Kami Bushi Kai, and Kenpo Karate. “Kami” means “Lord.” “Bushi” means “Warrior.” “Kempo” means “Law of the Fist.” Kami Bushi Kai was predominately Shotokan Karate. This is what the children will spend most of their time learning. It is the foundation for our basics. Kenpo is our base system that is built from these basics. It is the self-defense side of the art. Think of Kenpo as the tree and Kami Bushi Kai (or Shotokan) as the branches that make up and build the tree.

Finally, it is the goal of every martial artist to develop his or her, “mind, body, and spirit.” The mind will be developed by the science found in martial arts training and by the teachings of the Bible. The body, of course, will be developed through hard physical training in karate. And finally, the spirit will be developed through our devotion/teaching time and by continually building a relationship with Jesus Christ and being filled with the Holy Spirit as the children come to know Him.

It is our mission here at the Academy that our “Little Warriors” learn the true values of Bushido and develop their, “mind, body, and spirit” through the art of Kami Bushi Kempo, “Law of the Fist for the Lords Warriors.”
